CECS Advising Services

The CECS Academic Affairs Office (AAO) is located in ENG1, room 107, and is open Monday – Friday from 8 am – 5 pm. We offer academic assistance to undergraduate students within the College of Engineering and Computer Science. AAO handles general academic advising as well as advising on UCF policies and procedures. Click here to locate other UCF Advising offices for non-engineering students at UCF.

AAO academic advisors are available to assist you with the following areas:

  • General university policy questions
  • Resolving engineering registration holds
  • Paperwork (i.e. – ROTC plans, financial aid appeals*, out of state transient application, overrides, etc.)
  • Class schedule and registration
  • Long-range academic planning and myKnight degree audit review
  • Study abroad planning
  • Pegasus Path Review
  • CECS major, CECS minor, and/or career exploration (Note: For assistance with majors or minors not offered in CECS, please contact the department where the major or minor is housed.)

*If you require a SAP appeal, you cannot schedule an appointment online. You will need to call 407-823-2455 to schedule a SAP appeal appointment specifically. Please DO NOT schedule an appointment with a different service (ie: schedule planning, alert hold, probation hold, etc). Only specific academic advisors can complete SAP appeals. If you schedule an appointment for a different reason and end up needing a SAP appeal, you will have to cancel that appointment and call to reschedule a SAP appeal appointment.

Make An Appointment

  • Online:

You are able to schedule an appointment online in myKnight STAR.

Note: The following appointments cannot be made online and must be made in person or over the phone: Readmission from Disqualification, Prospective Students, CECS Progress Redirection, Financial Aid Appeals (Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal)

  • By Phone:

You may call us during office hours at 407-823-2455 to schedule an academic advising appointment.

  • In Person:

You may stop by ENG1, Room 107 during office hours and speak with our front desk staff to schedule an advising appointment.

Please Note: MyKnight Star will only show available appointment times for two weeks out. If no appointments show up to schedule in MyKnight Star, it could be that all advisors are currently booked for two weeks. This may occur during the peak times of the semesters. In this situation, you should check MyKnight Star again for new available appointment times the following week or plan to attend Walk-In Advising.

Students can periodically check MyKnight Star for additional appointment times which might become available due to cancellations.

Walk-in CECS Advising

Walk-in advising is intended for brief guidance to move you forward in your academic process. Walk-in appointments are seen on a first-come-first-served basis and are limited to 10-15 minute sessions. Walk-in hours are most Tuesdays and the first week of Fall and Spring semesters only from 9:00am-3:00pm. Walk-ins will close for lunch from 12pm to 1pm. Students can expect long wait times during peak registration times. The line may be cut off before posted end times.

There will be no walk-in advising on Tuesdays during the summer semesters. If students need assistance during the summer, please schedule an appointment.

We cannot address graduation plans (i.e.- scheduling planning assistance for more than two semesters), ROTC forms, financial aid appeals or out of state transient applications during walk-in advising. If you need assistance with any of those academic matters or need more time to speak with an advisor, please schedule a full advising appointment.

Tuesday walk-ins will only have an in-person option available. If students are unable to make it in person for walk-ins, please schedule a virtual appointment. This may be subject to change. Students can call the office to inquire about virtual walk-in (though not guaranteed to be available).
