Major or Class Issue

The zero credit hour career advising courses have an instructor listed for the section you enrolled in for the term. Students should check their webcourses and read the requirements to complete the course with a satisfactory grade.

REGISTRATION

The waitlist cannot be bypassed with an override.

No. Overrides are not permitted if a student has not met the UCF prerequisite requirements.

If you are still completing pending requirements, you will not be able to register in pre-major courses.

Senior design permission numbers must be requested through your department.

No. Summer course offerings can be limited and may change each summer term.

TRANSIENT

No. Co-requisites and prerequisites must be done at the same institution when taken together.

No. Taking courses as a Transient student will not allow you to enroll in future courses within the College of Engineering and Computer Science until the final grade in the transient course can be provided to UCF.

Transient applications are processed after the withdrawal deadline in the order that they are received. The College of Engineering and Computer Science does not expedite transient applications.

Transient applications may be denied if they are:

  1. Submitted before the withdrawal deadline.
  2. Submitted for the third attempt of a course.
  3. The class is not required for degree completion.
  4. The transient course is not equivalent to the UCF course required for your major.

APPOINTMENTS

Run a Pegasus path, contact the department of your major to see if they have advising availability, or review your flowchart and 4 yr plan.

There are three ways to schedule an academic advising appointment:

  • Online: You are able to schedule an appointment online in my Knight STAR
    **Note: The following appointments cannot be made online and must be made in person or over the phone: Readmission from Disqualification, Prospective Students, CECS Progress Redirection, Financial Aid Appeals (Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal).
  • By Phone: You may call us during office hours at 407-823-2455 to schedule an academic advising appointment.
  • In Person: You may stop by ENG1, room 107 during office hours and speak with our front desk staff to schedule an advising appointment.

General advising appointments are typically 30 minutes. The following advising services require 1 hour appointments: Prospective Students, Financial Aid Appeals, and ROTC Forms.

A Records Authorization Release (FERPA) must be on file for each individual a student would like to grant access to educational information. If a FERPA release is not on file, we are not able to share information with anyone outside of the student.

HOLDS

To determine what action is needed to resolve your Engineering Hold, please follow the instructions displayed when viewing your hold in the myUCF portal.

If the reason listed for the hold is “Academic Alert” or “Probation”, please refer to the email you received from eacaf@ucf.edu regarding your engineering hold which includes an attachment of the paperwork you will need to submit prior to meeting with an academic advisor. If you have not completed and submitted all required paperwork before your scheduled meeting, your appointment will be rescheduled.

Our office is not able to remove holds from other campus departments or offices (i.e.- Health Services Hold, Student Accounts Financial Hold, etc.). To determine what action is needed to resolve your hold, please follow the instructions displayed when viewing your hold in the myUCF portal.

UNIVERSITY POLICIES

CECS WEBCOURSES

Submissions are graded during normal business hours (M – F from 8am – 5pm) and in the order they are received. It can take up to 48 business hours during non-peak times to receive a response. During peak registration times, it can take 3-4 business days to receive a response.

Check your messages within the webcourse for instructions and next steps.

Contact the instructor directly within the webcourse or contact the CECS Academic Affairs office to have your hold reviewed.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL AID CONCERNS

Yes, the CECS scholarship application cycle runs November 1 to February 1 of each year to award scholarships for the next academic year. During the application cycle, please check the scholarship link in your myUCF portal for a list of scholarships you are eligible to apply for. For more information, click here.

Outside of scheduled appointments to complete the advisor portion of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal form, academic advisors cannot answer financial aid questions. All financial aid questions should be addressed to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
